2006 UK Formula Ford Champion Nathan Freke gets his first taste in a ChampCar Atlantic with Walker Racing.

23 year old British Racing Driver Nathan Freke is looking to continue and develop his racing career in the USA competing in the ChampCar Atlantic Series. Nathan tested for the 2006 Championship winning Walker Racing team recently at Sebring, Florida, on January 27th.

As British Formula Ford Champion this was a significant test for Nathan as he got to grips with the aerodynamic down-force of the Atlantic car. A skill needed to progress up the motor racing ladder.

The main objective of the test was to learn about the car and acclimatise to the culture of racing in America. Throughout the morning of the test Nathan spent much of the time learning the circuit and understanding the car, immediately leaving a good impression with the championship winning team.

“The Atlantic car is a stunning machine to drive, more like a World Series Renault than an F3, the downforce is brutal and the power is ample to push the car along. My thanks go out to Walker Racing for the test and for looking after me so well during my time in America, I am looking forward to renewing our relationship in the future.” commented Nathan upon his return home.

As the test progressed throughout the day Nathan`s lap times became quicker and consistent as his confidence grew with the car. Nathan left the team with an excellent impression with his good understanding of the car, his technical feedback and overall driving ability.

Team Owner Derrick Walker added, “Overall the team were impressed with Nathan`s whole performance, in and out of the car, I was impressed with his speed in his first run with a down-force car, it was a tall order but he adapted admirably.”
